JOB TITLE: MACHINE OPERATOR
SHIFT: Must be able to work either shift (1st, 7 am to 3:30 pm or 2nd 3:30 pm to 12 am)
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assists machine operator as needed to facilitate production processes by performing such functions as on loading/off loading parts, simple maintenance, staging parts, and basic machine setups.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Follows supervisor instructions to determine work priorities and assigned tasks.
Assists machine operators as needed with various production processes such as on loading - off loading parts and setups.
Stacks and positions parts in specified manner in staging area before and after production processes.
Makes minor adjustments to equipment as instructed.
Performs simple maintenance procedures such as oiling, grease, etc.
Cleans out interior spaces of machine using air hose, broom, shovel, etc.
Visually inspects metal components as required prior to and after processing.
Performs parts dimensions checks using tape measure, square and related equipment.
Operates banding machine to secure parts onto pallet in prescribed manner.
Maintains good housekeeping standards in assigned area.
Performs all duties following established safety procedures and guidelines using assigned safety equipment.
Performs other duties as required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Must have a thorough knowledge of the loading and unloading procedures of the assigned machine. Must know the company quality standards for the parts being processed. Requires the ability to make minor adjustments to equipment. Must know proper cleaning procedures and be able to follow verbal instructions.
EXPERIENCE:
Up to two weeks of work experience is required to become proficient in most phases of the job.
INITIATIVE/INGENUITY:
Follows well-defined job procedures with initiative and judgment required to maintain productivity, accuracy and company quality standards.
MENTAL/VISUAL/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Normal mental concentration is required with job duties. Physical effort includes: walking, reaching, bending and light lifting (25 lbs.). Good eye/hand/foot coordination is necessary.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT:
There is little likelihood of damage to equipment following established procedures of operation.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR MATERIAL:
Failure to properly select, load and off load parts could result in some loss of materials. Errors would be readily detected during visual inspections.
HAZARDS:
Exposed to the potential minor injuries to hands such as cuts, burns, mashed fingers, or mashed foot. Must wear safety equipment such as eye, ear and foot protection.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS:
Works in cooperation with machine operator and is responsible for own level of production. Failure to work efficiently could reduce the output of assigned department. Must follow safety procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
A normal metal working environment is present with metal shavings and machine noise present to a disagreeable extent at times. Will be required to wear PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, external metal guard boots, and ear plugs. Impact gloves may be required depending on the job. Exposed to summer heat and cold in winter.
